Casa Ferreirinha · Douro, Portugal · 750 ml
An expert physically inspected this bottle before approving the listing.
A true icon of Portuguese wine and one of the most prestigious names ever produced in the Douro. Barca Velha 1985 represents the extraordinary vision of Casa Ferreirinha, a wine whose name is reserved for exceptional harvests capable of producing the structure, elegance and longevity demanded of this legendary label. When a vintage does not reach the required standard, Barca Velha is simply not declared. More than four decades after harvest, the 1985 vintage has become an increasingly rare and highly collectible expression of Portuguese winemaking history. With extended bottle ageing, Barca Velha develops remarkable complexity, combining mature dark and dried fruits with notes of cedar, tobacco, leather, spice, forest floor and balsamic nuances, supported by the characteristic freshness and structure of the Douro. This bottle presents particularly well for its age, retaining its original Ferreirinha capsule, 1985 vintage neck label and historic illustrated front label. The rear label displays natural age-related wear, consistent with a wine of this maturity. An exceptional opportunity for collectors of mature Portuguese fine wine and an important vintage from one of Portugal’s most celebrated labels. “Bottle in very good condition considering its age. Original Ferreirinha capsule intact, with well-preserved front and vintage neck labels. Rear label showing age-related wear and staining. No visible signs of leakage. Please refer to photographs for full condition.”
