An expert physically inspected this bottle before approving the listing.
An impressive limited-production Grande Reserva from the Dão, Fonte do Ouro 2017 represents one of the flagship wines of Boas Quintas and acclaimed Portuguese winemaker Nuno Cancela de Abreu. Produced in a strictly limited edition of just 2,400 individually numbered bottles, this example is No. 0568 and is presented in its original luxury presentation case. A blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Jaen, the wine underwent 18 months in new French oak, developing remarkable concentration and complexity. Expect intense black fruits, floral and balsamic notes, spice and chocolate, supported by polished tannins, freshness and a long, persistent finish. The quality of the 2017 vintage was internationally recognized: 93 points from Wine Enthusiast and, significantly, a coveted Grande Ouro (Grand Gold) at the Wines of Portugal Competition 2021.

André Bicho
Raised in Portugal and educated in the United States, André has spent two decades moving between cultures, languages and cellars. His passion for fine wine and spirits began with the great Ports and table wines of his home country and grew into a wider fascination with the craft, history and provenance behind every great bottle. When he isn’t tasting or sourcing, he can be found driving the back roads of Europe in search of small producers and the stories behind their labels.
