W. & J. Graham’s · Douro, Portugal · 750 ml
An expert physically inspected this bottle before approving the listing.
A magnificent expression of mature Tawny Port from one of the Douro’s most historic houses, Graham’s 40 Years Old Tawny represents the pinnacle of Graham’s traditional aged-Tawny range. Founded in 1820, Graham’s built its reputation on exceptional Ports sourced from the Douro Valley. The 40 Year Old is assembled from extremely mature wines that have undergone decades of oxidative ageing in seasoned oak, with the final blend created to achieve the complexity, elegance and extraordinary concentration associated with very old Tawny Port. After decades in wood, the wine develops Graham’s characteristic mature Tawny profile: dried fruits, raisins, toasted nuts, caramel, toffee, spice and chocolate, combined with remarkable aromatic complexity and a long, elegant finish. Current descriptions characterize it as golden amber with a pale green hue at the rim, a classic visual signature of very old Tawny Port.

André Bicho
Raised in Portugal and educated in the United States, André has spent two decades moving between cultures, languages and cellars. His passion for fine wine and spirits began with the great Ports and table wines of his home country and grew into a wider fascination with the craft, history and provenance behind every great bottle. When he isn’t tasting or sourcing, he can be found driving the back roads of Europe in search of small producers and the stories behind their labels.
