A remarkable limited-edition expression of Johnnie Walker Blue Label, Elusive Umami was created through an extraordinary collaboration between Johnnie Walker Master Blender Emma Walker and acclaimed Japanese chef Kei Kobayashi. Inspired by umami — the mysterious fifth taste — the pair sought to create a whisky balancing sweet, savoury and subtly smoky characteristics. Individual casks were specifically hand-selected for the character required to build this unusual flavour profile. The result combines aromas and flavours associated with ripe fruit, white peach and blood orange with spice, subtle smoke, salinity and savoury oak, creating an exceptionally distinctive interpretation of Blue Label. Presented in its striking deep-blue bottle decorated with Japanese-inspired orange brushwork, accompanied by the matching luxury presentation case, Elusive Umami has strong visual and collector appeal.
