A rare single-cask release from one of Scotland’s great lost grain distilleries. Distilled at the now-closed Port Dundas Distillery in Glasgow in July 2004, this 11 Year Old Single Grain Scotch Whisky was matured in a refill barrel before being selected and bottled by renowned independent bottler Douglas Laing for its prestigious Old Particular collection in April 2016. This is cask DL11224, from which just 840 bottles were released worldwide. Bottled at 48.4% ABV, without chill filtration or artificial colouring, it preserves the individual character of the spirit and its maturation. The profile combines soft sweetness with notes of vanilla, coffee, toffee and maple syrup, followed by citrus, butterscotch and warming spice. Its collector appeal is strengthened considerably by its provenance. Port Dundas was once one of Scotland’s major grain whisky distilleries, supplying spirit for some of the country’s best-known blends before production ultimately ceased. Bottlings carrying the Port Dundas name therefore represent whisky from a distillery that can never produce spirit again. A limited 840-bottle release, single cask provenance, closed distillery and original Old Particular presentation tube make this a compelling addition to a Scotch whisky collection.
