An expert physically inspected this bottle before approving the listing.
One of Bairrada’s modern icons, Principal Grande Reserva 2011 is a prestigious Portuguese red created to compete at the highest international level. Produced at Colinas de São Lourenço from the exceptional limestone-clay terroir of Bairrada, this Grande Reserva brings together Touriga Nacional, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, combining Portuguese character with remarkable depth, precision and longevity. The 2011 reveals an intense and complex aromatic profile of ripe black fruit, spice, cedar, tobacco and subtle balsamic notes. Powerful and concentrated on the palate, it delivers impressive volume, beautifully textured tannins and vibrant acidity, leading to a persistent, sophisticated finish. Awarded 91 points by Robert Parker, the 2011 has established itself as a highly regarded vintage of Principal and continues to show considerable ageing potential. A mature, cellar-worthy expression of modern Bairrada and a compelling bottle for collectors of Portugal’s premium wines.

André Bicho
Raised in Portugal and educated in the United States, André has spent two decades moving between cultures, languages and cellars. His passion for fine wine and spirits began with the great Ports and table wines of his home country and grew into a wider fascination with the craft, history and provenance behind every great bottle. When he isn’t tasting or sourcing, he can be found driving the back roads of Europe in search of small producers and the stories behind their labels.
