Quinta do Noval Vinhas da Marka 2019 – Terroir Series – Douro DOC A rare and highly distinctive Douro red from one of Portugal’s most celebrated estates. Vinhas da Marka 2019 represents the first edition of Quinta do Noval’s Terroir Series, a project created to showcase individual terroirs considered exceptional by the estate. The wine originates from an exceptionally small 1.45-hectare parcel of old vines at Quinta da Marka. The vines were planted in 1930 and form a traditional Douro field blend containing more than 30 indigenous grape varieties. Quinta do Noval considered the quality achieved in the 2019 harvest sufficiently exceptional to release a very limited quantity as Vinhas da Marka. The result is a deep, complex and elegant expression of the Douro, combining ripe fruit, minerality and aromatic complexity with freshness and balance. The wine spent 12 months in 225-litre French-oak barrels, 80% new and 20% second-use. It also has strong critical credentials: Wine Enthusiast awarded it 95 points, describing it as a rich and complex single-vineyard wine and recommending drinking from 2026.
