A mature Douro red from Quinta de São Bernardo, a historic family property situated on the banks of the Douro River and associated with the Monteiro family. The estate dates to 1912 and includes old vineyards that form an important part of the identity of 1912 Winemakers. The company was founded by brothers António and Edmar Monteiro, continuing their family’s connection to the property and its vineyards. The S. Bernardo range is built around traditional Douro winemaking and the character of the estate’s vineyards. With more than a decade of bottle evolution, the 2012 should now show a mature profile, moving from primary fruit toward more developed notes of dried and dark fruit, spice, earth, tobacco and tertiary complexity.

His passion for fine wine and spirits began with the great Ports and table wines of his home country and grew into a wider fascination with the craft, history and provenance behind every great bottle.
