Casa Ferreirinha Reserva Especial 1990 – Douro DOC A rare and highly collectible mature release from Casa Ferreirinha, one of the historic names of the Douro and the house behind the legendary Barca Velha. Reserva Especial occupies a particularly important place in the Casa Ferreirinha portfolio. It represents wines selected from exceptional harvests and is closely associated with the rigorous selection philosophy behind the house’s greatest Douro reds. The 1990 Reserva Especial is now more than three decades old and has become increasingly difficult to find in well-preserved condition. The wine is a traditional Douro red based on classic regional varieties; available technical listings identify Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão in the blend. Mature examples are described as showing complex notes of ripe red and black fruits, cedar, tobacco box, spice, pepper and cocoa, developing the tertiary complexity expected from long bottle ageing.
