Casa Ferreirinha Barca Velha 2000 – Douro DOC An exceptional mature bottle of Barca Velha 2000, the flagship wine of Casa Ferreirinha and one of the most celebrated and collectible wines ever produced in Portugal. Created in 1952, Barca Velha transformed the perception of dry red wine from the Douro. The name is reserved for exceptional harvests judged capable of achieving the extraordinary complexity, elegance and longevity required of Casa Ferreirinha’s flagship wine. The 2000 vintage is now more than a quarter-century from harvest and has developed into a highly desirable mature expression of Barca Velha. The wine shows a complex profile built around ripe plum and raspberry, clove, cinnamon, balsamic nuances, tobacco and mint, with fine wood integrated into the fruit. On the palate it combines considerable structure with balanced acidity, mature fruit and firm but increasingly integrated tannins.
