Quinta do Vallado Reserva Field Blend 2022 – Old Vines 60–100 Years – Douro DOC – 75cl

A serious old-vine Douro red from Quinta do Vallado, one of the historic estates of the region. The 2022 Reserva Field Blend comes from 60–100-year-old vineyards containing more than 35 traditional Douro grape varieties, with Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Touriga Franca and Tinta Barroca among the predominant varieties. Part of the fruit was traditionally foot-trodden in granite lagares. Following fermentation, the wine spent 18 months in French Allier oak barriques, 22% new and 78% used. Production was 27,030 standard 75cl bottles, plus 800 magnums. The producer describes a concentrated profile with balsamic oak, fig, dark plum/blackberry and tobacco, followed by a full-bodied palate, mature silky tannins, minerality and a persistent, complex finish.
