Legado Fernando Guedes 2009 – Douro DOC – Original Presentation Case The inaugural vintage of one of Sogrape’s most prestigious and limited Douro wines, Legado 2009 represents Fernando Guedes’ tribute to the family’s winemaking heritage and to the historic vineyards of the Douro. Produced from exceptionally old vines at Quinta do Caêdo, Legado is a traditional Douro field blend incorporating Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and numerous historic indigenous varieties. The wine matured for approximately 24 months in new French oak barrels before bottling. Production of the 2009 vintage was exceptionally limited, with Sogrape reporting just 4,500 bottles produced. Deep ruby in colour, the wine is noted for its complexity, combining fig and plum with truffle, sous-bois, pepper, spice and pronounced mineral character. The palate combines concentration with elegance, vibrant acidity and a remarkably long, complex finish. Presented here with its original Legado Fernando Guedes presentation case, this is a particularly desirable example of the historic first vintage.
