An exceptional expression of the art of aged Tawny Port from one of the Douro Valley’s historic estates. Quinta das Carvalhas 50 Year Old Tawny Port is created from an extraordinary collection of mature Ports preserved for decades in oak. The blend is built around 1967 and 1978 Colheitas and elevated with 10% of an exceptionally old 1927 Colheita, resulting in a wine of remarkable age, rarity and complexity. After its prolonged maturation in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, the wine displays a beautiful amber colour and an intensely evolved aromatic profile of old oak, cedar, nutmeg, dried fruits and subtle citrus freshness. The palate is concentrated yet elegant, combining dried fruit and liquorice with impressive structure and an exceptionally long, persistent finish. Awarded 97 points, this is far beyond an everyday Tawny: it is a prestige bottling representing generations of Port-wine ageing and blending expertise.
