Wiese & Krohn Reserva Particular 1900 – Bottled 1980 – 80 Years of Cask Ageing – 75cl

An exceptionally rare bottle of Wiese & Krohn Reserva Particular 1900, produced from the historic 1900 harvest and bottled in 1980 after approximately 80 years of maturation. The original label identifies the wine as “Reserva Particular – Vinho Velho do Porto” and carries the historic description “Tawny – Very Sweet.” It was produced by Wiese & Krohn, Sucrs. Lda., Vila Nova de Gaia, the historic Port house founded in 1865. This extraordinary Port represents a style for which the old houses of Vila Nova de Gaia became famous: wine from a single historic harvest preserved and matured for many decades before bottling. Comparable Wiese & Krohn Reserva Particular 1900 bottles are recognized by major international auction houses and specialist Port collectors. Christie’s has offered examples bottled in the 1970s, including a 1973 bottling estimated at £700–£800. This example is particularly notable for the clearly printed statement “Engarrafado em 1980” (Bottled in 1980), indicating approximately eight decades between the 1900 harvest and bottling. The bottle retains its original aged label and historic presentation. After more than 125 years from the harvest, this represents a remarkable survivor from the golden age of Portuguese Port.
