Quinta das Carvalhas has roots stretching back to 1759 and occupies a privileged position in the Douro, a landscape shaped over centuries by vines, stone terraces and the production of some of Portugal’s greatest fortified wines. This exceptional 40 Years Old Tawny Port is created through the careful blending of mature Ports aged for decades in wood. Rather than representing a single vintage, the 40-year age indication reflects the extraordinary maturity, complexity and character achieved through prolonged ageing and meticulous blending. Extended maturation transforms the wine into an intensely complex Tawny, combining dried fruit, roasted and oxidative notes with remarkable concentration, freshness and elegance. The producer describes a deep, mature colour followed by aromas of dried apricot, roasted notes and iodine. The palate is exceptionally silky and glyceric, with considerable depth and a long, sophisticated finish shaped by decades of ageing in wood.
