Espírito de Minas is a traditional artisanal cachaça produced at Fazenda Santa Luzia in São Tiago, Minas Gerais, one of Brazil’s historic cachaça-producing regions. Made from freshly pressed sugarcane juice, its traditional production involves fermentation followed by distillation in copper pot stills. The spirit is then matured in wood, giving this otherwise characteristically Brazilian sugarcane distillate its pale golden appearance and softer, more complex character. The producer describes Espírito de Minas as one of the brands that helped establish premium artisanal cachaça alongside other high-quality spirits in Brazilian bars and restaurants. Today the brand belongs to the Natique Osborne group. Expect a smooth, gently woody profile with sugarcane character accompanied by notes associated with vanilla, caramel, mild spice and oak, making it suitable for drinking neat as well as for a premium Caipirinha.
