OPUS ONE 2021 – NAPA VALLEY – 750 ML

One of the world’s most celebrated fine wines, Opus One was created from the historic partnership between two legendary figures of the wine world: Robert Mondavi of Napa Valley and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild. Their ambition was extraordinary yet simple — to combine the traditions and precision of a great Bordeaux estate with the exceptional terroir of Napa Valley. The 2021 Opus One is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated blend composed of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot, 0.5% Merlot and 0.5% Malbec. A superbly regarded vintage, the 2021 displays remarkable concentration and elegance, with layers of cassis, blackberry and black cherry complemented by violet, vanilla and subtle spice. Fine-grained tannins provide a plush, polished texture, developing into notes of black tea, liquorice and dark chocolate through the long, persistent finish. The vintage has received outstanding international critical recognition, including 99 points from James Suckling, 98 from Decanter, 98 from Jeb Dunnuck and 97 from Vinous. Built for extended cellaring, Opus One 2021 combines the structure and refinement associated with Bordeaux with the richness and purity of fruit for which Napa Valley is renowned.
