Casa Ferreirinha Reserva 1989 – Douro DOC A rare mature bottle of Casa Ferreirinha Reserva 1989, produced by one of the most historic and prestigious names in Portugal’s Douro Valley. Casa Ferreirinha occupies a unique position in Portuguese wine history, inseparably associated with Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira and also responsible for the legendary Barca Velha. The 1989 Reserva comes from the same historic house and represents an increasingly difficult-to-find example of traditional, mature Douro red wine. The blend is reported as Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão, classic varieties responsible for the structure and longevity of the great traditional reds of the Douro. After more than 35 years of bottle ageing, the wine has developed the complex tertiary character expected from a mature Douro: black tea, dried fruit, spice, chocolate, tobacco and earthy notes, supported by integrated tannins and persistent acidity. The 1989 has received 92/100 from Robert Parker, adding further collector interest to an already scarce mature vintage.
