An exceptional opportunity to acquire a complete six-bottle original wooden case of Chryseia 2007, one of the benchmark premium red wines of Portugal’s Douro Valley. Chryseia was born from the partnership between the Symington family, whose history in the Douro extends across generations, and celebrated Bordeaux winemaker Bruno Prats, formerly of Château Cos d’Estournel. The first commercial Chryseia vintage was released from the 2000 harvest. The 2007 vintage was produced from an equal blend of 50% Touriga Nacional and 50% Touriga Franca. According to Prats & Symington, the vintage followed an almost ideal growing season, with a rainy winter and notably mild spring and summer. The wine matured for 12 months in new 400-litre French oak barrels. The producer describes the resulting wine as showing complex blackcurrant and black-cherry aromas, excellent concentration and considerable elegance through the finish. The vintage received significant critical recognition: Wine Enthusiast awarded it 94 points, describing it as a benchmark of modern Douro winemaking, while Wine Spectator awarded 93 points. Presented here as a complete six-bottle case in its original Prats & Symington wooden case, clearly vintage-marked Chryseia 2007.
