A distinctive grain-to-bottle Canadian craft gin from Menaud Distillery in Charlevoix, Québec, created to express the wild landscape surrounding the St. Lawrence River. Menaud begins with locally grown wheat and rye from L’Isle-aux-Coudres. Following fermentation and two distillations, a remarkable collection of regional botanicals is introduced during a third distillation, including juniper, sumac, samphire, elderberry, wild caraway, balsam poplar, black spruce and alder pepper. The resulting gin combines juniper and citrus with forest-like, floral and woody notes, while locally sourced samphire introduces an unusual saline character.
