Each annual release explores a different element behind the character of Macallan—from exceptional oak casks and whisky making to aroma, natural colour and the landscape surrounding the distillery. Edition No. 1 – 2015 The inaugural and increasingly collectible release, built around Macallan’s exceptional oak cask selection. This is the cornerstone of the collection and generally the most valuable individual bottle. Edition No. 2 – 2016 Created in collaboration with the Roca brothers of the world-renowned El Celler de Can Roca, exploring the relationship between whisky and gastronomy. Edition No. 3 – 2017 A collaboration with legendary Master Perfumer Roja Dove, focusing on aroma and the extraordinary sensory complexity of whisky. Edition No. 4 – 2018 Inspired by the architecture and design of Macallan’s new distillery, highlighting structure, balance and the influence of carefully selected oak casks. Edition No. 5 – 2019 Created around Macallan’s commitment to 100% natural colour, with a striking purple presentation inspired by the exploration of colour. Edition No. 6 – 2020 The final chapter of the series, inspired by the natural landscape surrounding The Macallan Estate and particularly the River Spey, bringing the six-year collection to its conclusion. Together, the six bottles form a visually spectacular progression from the dark Edition No. 1 through orange, yellow, green, purple and blue.
