Casa dos Amados Raríssimo by Osvaldo Amado 2011 – Bairrada DOC – Baga – 75cl

An exceptional and increasingly scarce Bairrada DOC red from the 2011 vintage, produced by Casa dos Amados and created by renowned Portuguese winemaker Osvaldo Amado. Raríssimo 2011 is produced exclusively from Baga, grown on Bairrada’s characteristic clay-limestone soils. The wine matured for 24 months in French oak barrels, 50% new, developing considerable depth while retaining the acidity and structure characteristic of the Baga variety. Now with more than a decade of bottle age, it displays a complex profile of mature red and black fruits, floral and balsamic notes, dried herbs, tobacco, graphite, liquorice, cocoa and sweet spices. The palate remains structured and energetic, with firm tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, concentrated finish. The 2011 Raríssimo received 92 points from Wine Enthusiast, which highlighted its black-fruit, spice, coffee and herbal character. The wine has also received recognition at the Concurso Vinhos de Portugal.
