A premium Douro red from Quinta do Noval, one of the historic estates of the Douro Valley, whose name appears in records dating to 1715. The 2019 Reserva is produced only in years considered of excellent quality, from a rigorous selection of grapes originating in some of the estate’s best vineyard parcels. The blend is based on Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa/Franca and a field blend from old vines. The wine combines concentrated black fruit with balsamic, toasted and spicy notes. It has considerable structure and volume, firm but polished tannins and a long, fruit-driven finish. The 2019 has the concentration to be enjoyed now while retaining good potential for further bottle ageing. It was matured in French oak, with current references for the 2019 specifying approximately 12 months of barrel ageing.
