One of Portugal’s most distinctive and historically important white wines, Buçaco Branco Reservado is produced for the legendary Palace Hotel do Buçaco by Alexandre de Almeida Hotels. The story of the wines of Buçaco dates back to 1917, when Alexandre de Almeida established a cellar at the Palace Hotel. Originally created for the hotel’s distinguished guests, the wines developed an extraordinary reputation over generations and today rank among Portugal’s cult traditional wines. Buçaco Branco Reservado is particularly unusual because it brings together two great Portuguese wine regions. The 2021 is produced from Bical and Maria Gomes from Bairrada together with Encruzado from the Dão, creating a wine of remarkable freshness, structure and longevity. The 2021 vintage has received 95 points from Wine Advocate / Robert Parker, confirming its position among Portugal’s serious age-worthy white wines. Rather than being made for immediate consumption, Buçaco Branco Reservado has a celebrated ability to evolve for decades. With bottle age it develops remarkable complexity while retaining the acidity and mineral structure characteristic of the style. The 2021 combines white and stone fruit with citrus, floral and mineral notes, developing nuances of spice, hazelnut, toast and cream as it evolves.
