An outstanding bottle of Ferreira Vintage Port 2016, presented in its elegant wooden presentation case and originating from one of the historic names of Portuguese Port. Founded in 1751, Ferreira has played an important role in the history of the Douro and Port wine for more than two and a half centuries. The house became particularly associated with the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, one of the defining figures in the development of the Douro. The exceptional quality of the 2016 harvest led Ferreira to declare a Vintage Port, with winemaker Luís Sottomayor highlighting the remarkable complexity, colour and structure of the vintage and its considerable potential for long-term bottle ageing. Ferreira Vintage 2016 displays an intense, almost opaque colour and a powerful aromatic profile of ripe black fruits, plum and fig, accompanied by balsamic, liquorice, cocoa and chocolate notes. On the palate it is concentrated and full-bodied, combining powerful structure with integrated acidity and firm tannins. Dark fruit, cherry and chocolate characteristics lead into a remarkably long and complex finish. Awarded an exceptional 99/100 by Wine Enthusiast, the 2016 is a serious cellar-worthy Vintage Port with decades of potential development ahead.
