Scala Coeli Reserva – Exceptional 3-Bottle Collection An outstanding presentation of one of the most exclusive labels produced by the historic Fundação Eugénio de Almeida / Adega Cartuxa in Évora. Named after the Monastery of Santa Maria Scala Coeli—the celebrated Cartuxa monastery—Scala Coeli represents a highly selective and unconventional side of Alentejo winemaking. Produced from the estate’s finest vinifications and grape varieties less traditionally associated with the region, the range has been made only since 2011. This collection brings together two distinct expressions: Scala Coeli Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 — 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine underwent cold pre-fermentation maceration followed by extended fermentation and maceration, then matured for 15 months in new French oak barrels followed by 24 months in bottle. Structured, concentrated and elegant, with considerable ageing potential. Scala Coeli Reserva Alicante Bouschet 2017 — a particularly powerful expression produced from Alicante Bouschet. Deep ruby in colour, with concentrated mature fruit, liquorice, balsamic and eucalyptus notes, backed by muscular tannins and a long, velvety finish. It also received 15 months in new French oak followed by 24 months in bottle. Production is reported at only 6,700 bottles. 2 2019 1 2017
