Casa Ferreirinha Quinta da Leda 2004 – Douro DOC – 75cl

An impressive mature vintage of Quinta da Leda, one of the flagship Douro reds of Casa Ferreirinha, the historic house responsible for Barca Velha. Produced from fruit originating at Quinta da Leda in the Douro Superior, the estate that plays a central role in Casa Ferreirinha’s finest wines, Quinta da Leda represents the house’s classic combination of concentration, elegance and longevity. The 2004 vintage was produced principally from traditional Douro varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. Contemporary tasting commentary describes the wine as full-bodied and intense, with red fruit and floral character and a long, persistent finish. Another retrospective tasting noted its depth, red fruit, tobacco and chocolate character and 18 months of barrel maturation. After more than two decades of bottle evolution, this is an increasingly uncommon opportunity to experience an older Quinta da Leda from one of Portugal’s most celebrated Douro producers.
