Monte da Peceguina Tinto 2023 is an estate-grown Alentejo red from Herdade da Malhadinha Nova, produced at the family’s property in Albernoa. The grapes are hand harvested in the early morning during August and September and carefully vinified at the estate. The 2023 combines Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Syrah from the Malhadinha, Peceguina and Terges vineyards. Fermentation takes place in traditional lagares and stainless-steel truncated-conical vats, followed by nine months in 225-litre French oak barrels. The wine combines ripe Alentejo fruit with freshness and structure, showing red and dark berry fruit, floral nuances, spice, polished tannins and restrained oak influence. One of Malhadinha Nova’s distinctive traditions is its artwork: members of the younger generation of the family create the labels. Your 2023 bottles carry the attractive flying duck illustration signed João Maria, giving the bottles an immediately recognizable identity.
