Dedo do Meio – JCA Vinhos – Limited Edition 2,700 Bottles – Alentejo

JCA Vinhos Dedo do Meio – Alentejo A striking limited-production Portuguese red from JCA Vinhos, created by winemaker João Carlos Abelha and instantly recognisable for one of the most irreverent labels in contemporary Portuguese wine. Produced in the Alentejo from Alicante Bouschet, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the grapes were harvested manually before undergoing controlled fermentation. Following alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for an impressive 20 months in new French and American oak barrels. Powerful and concentrated, it displays an opaque garnet colour with violet reflections and aromas dominated by ripe red fruit. The palate is dense, complex and remarkably smooth, with robust tannins integrated through extended barrel maturation and a long, persistent finish. Production of the 2022 vintage was restricted to only 2,700 bottles, making this an unusually small-production Alentejo release.
