A mature premium Douro red from Lavradores de Feitoria, produced from selected old vineyards and conceived as one of the producer’s top expressions. Três Bagos Grande Escolha is based on old-vine field blends, with the producer describing vineyards over 60 years old. Traditional Douro vinification includes foot-treading in granite lagares, followed by maturation in French oak. The wine is built around concentrated dark fruit, spice and mineral character, balanced by freshness, structured tannins and considerable bottle-ageing potential. Your bottle is particularly noteworthy because it is marked “Estágio Prolongado”. Lavradores de Feitoria treats the prolonged-ageing version separately from the regular Grande Escolha in its current portfolio. The 2011 Grande Escolha also received an “Escolha da Imprensa” award in 2016.
