Quinta do Vale Meão 2017 is an outstanding vintage of one of the Douro’s most prestigious flagship red wines, awarded a perfect 100/100 by Wine Enthusiast, alongside 96/100 from Wine Spectator and 95/100 from Wine Advocate. Produced at the historic Quinta do Vale Meão estate in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, the property traces its history to Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira — “Ferreirinha”, one of the defining figures in the history of Douro wine. The 2017 is composed of 55% Touriga Nacional, 40% Touriga Franca, 3% Tinta Barroca and 2% Tinta Roriz, as stated on the original estate label. Deep, structured and exceptionally concentrated, the wine combines ripe dark and red fruit with floral, spice and mineral characteristics. Wine Spectator described cherry, raspberry, baking spice, violet and schist-like minerality, supported by firm tannins and vibrant acidity.
