An exceptional and highly distinctive release from Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, the producer behind Cartuxa and Pêra-Manca. Scala Coeli takes its name from the historic Mosteiro de Santa Maria Scala Coeli — the Cartuxa monastery in Évora. Produced only in exceptional years from varieties outside the traditional Alentejo repertoire, the 2019 Scala Coeli is crafted exclusively from Cabernet Sauvignon. Following an extended vinification, the wine matured for 15 months in new French oak, followed by 24 months of bottle ageing prior to release. A powerful yet refined Alentejo Cabernet, combining ripe dark fruit, structure and freshness with the complexity imparted by new French oak. A serious collector’s wine with significant ageing potential and one of the more unusual premium bottlings in the Fundação Eugénio de Almeida portfolio.
