Monte da Peceguina Tinto 2024 is produced at Herdade da Malhadinha Nova in Albernoa, Alentejo, and represents one of the estate’s signature red blends. The grapes are estate-grown and hand harvested during August and September, picked during the first hours of the morning before being carefully vinified at the estate. The 2024 blend combines five important Portuguese and international varieties: Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Syrah. Fermentation takes place in traditional lagares and stainless-steel truncated-conical vats, followed by nine months of maturation in 225-litre French oak barrels. The style combines the ripe fruit character associated with the Alentejo with freshness, structure and polished tannins. Expect dark and red berry fruit, floral and spicy nuances, subtle oak and a balanced, persistent finish. One particularly attractive feature of Malhadinha Nova is the bottle artwork. The estate explains on the label that a new generation of the family designs the wine labels, continuing a tradition that gives its wines an immediately recognizable identity. These 2024 bottles carry the floral artwork signed Matilde.
