A superb two-bottle lot of Scala Coeli Touriga Nacional 2020, one of the prestigious and limited-production wines from Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, producer of the celebrated Cartuxa and Pêra-Manca wines. Scala Coeli takes its name from the Santa Maria Scala Coeli Monastery in Évora and represents a distinctive project within the Cartuxa portfolio, selecting exceptional vinifications from grape varieties less traditionally associated with the Alentejo. The 2020 release is produced exclusively from Touriga Nacional, harvested on 14 September 2020. Following cold pre-fermentation maceration, the wine underwent fermentation and extended maceration, with a total vat period of 30 days, followed by 15 months maturation in new French oak barrels. A powerful and refined Portuguese red with Touriga Nacional’s characteristic floral and dark-fruit profile, substantial concentration and a long, persistent finish. A compelling addition to a collection of premium Portuguese wines.
