Niepoort Colheita Port 1976 – Bottled 2007 – 31 Years in Cask – 75cl

An exceptional mature Colheita from one of the great historic names of Port. Produced from the 1976 harvest, this Niepoort Colheita was matured for approximately 31 years in cask before being bottled in 2007, an important distinction for collectors of aged Tawny and Colheita Ports. Unlike Vintage Port, which spends most of its life developing in bottle, a Colheita is a single-vintage Tawny Port matured for an extended period in wooden casks. The unusually long period between the 1976 harvest and this bottle’s 2007 bottling allowed decades of oxidative maturation before bottling. Long-aged Niepoort Colheitas are known for extraordinary complexity, typically developing layers of dried fruit, walnut, caramel, spice, coffee and polished wood alongside the freshness and acidity that are characteristic of the house. The bottle retains its original numbered Instituto do Vinho do Porto guarantee seal, and the distinctive black Niepoort presentation clearly identifies both the 1976 harvest and 2007 bottling date.
